A few blog posts ago I mentioned the book by Gretchen Rubin called The Happiness Project.
Gretchen goes on a quest to see ,in fact, if you can become more happy by making some changes. Each month is dedicated to one change-so this is what her list looked like for the year:
1.Boost Energy
2.Remember Love
3.Aim Higher
4.Lighten Up
5.Be Serious About Play
6.Make Time for Friends
7. Buy Some Happiness
8.Contemplate The Heavens
9.Pursue a Passion
10. Pay Attention
11. Keep a Contented Heart
12. Boot Camp Perfect
In an effort to make my happiness project address the areas that I wanted to work on, I created my own list:
1. Organize
2.Excercise and Health
3.Spoil My Family
4. Spoil Myself
5. Create
6.Be Thoughtful
7.Learn Something New
8.Volunteer
9.Spoil My Friends
10. Live in the Moment
11. Pay Attention (I liked this from Gretchen's list and I think everyone could use some practice w/ this)
12.Avoid Negativity
So beggining in May I am going to start with organization. I don't just mean clearing out the clutter(although I can certainly work on that) I also want to be better at remembering school events and special occasions. I have 3 different calendars-one on my computer, one on my phone and the old fashioned agenda kind and I can tell you none of them have the same information on them. I would also like to create an organization system for my 11 year old son so we can avoid those less than Cleaver moments before school each morning when we just realized the science project is due or look for the permission slip for the field trip that day.
I won't be doing this alone-I am hoping that you can send me ideas of what organizational tools and skills you use. Please let me know what you have tried and found that worked for you. Some of you are naturally organized and I would like to hear how you do it.
So: Thats the assignment-help me with Happiness Project number 1-remember I am starting May 1st.
